After the rear wheel is unmounted it is time to unscrew the cassette from the freehub. Because it is done in freehub direction a special plier is needed as well as a special 12 spline nut for the lockring of SRAM and Shimano cassettes and discs.
Before I install the new cassette I always clean up the freehub and regrease it.
The new stack of the cassette is guided by the shell of the freehub so it is impossible to installed it in the wrong direction. The last thing before the lockring will be installed is a few amount of grease in the inner thread where the dust cap is placed. This prevents cracking noises as well as weathering.
After that hit the lockring with 40NM and this short session is nearly done.
Last step is always the installing of the rear wheel and the check for the correct shifting position.
