New Chain

Second Post… new Chain. As the last view changes its again the Dura Ace CN-HG901 with quick-link (master-link).

These tools are needed:

  • Bike Stand
  • CC-3.2
  • CT-3.2
  • MLP-1.2
  • Rod/Stick

Official Service Manual:

Service/Spare Part:

  • Shimano Dura Ace 11s Chain
    • CN-HG901 (Quick-Link)
    • I-CNHG90111116Q

No warranty in ANY case of damage!

First of all is to check the chain length. On 11s chains a 0.5 extension is to much. If you run a chain longer the chainrings and cogs will be affected.

To unlink the chain the easiest way is to shift on the smallest chainring and into the middle of the cassette. Then its just a snap with the MLP.

After that the sizing. I put the new and the old chain on a stick to locate the correct size. It is the link directly by the extension of the chain. Just break the chain with the locking tool and its done.

Installation is in reverse order just that simple.

Note: The CN-HG901 is directional bonded same as the quick-link. So keep the lettering on the right side!

Now the drive train is nearly finished. My next step will be the new bottom bracket as previously announced =)
Keep you posted!
